Slowly making progress

I have finally been able to find some time to begin my reading list. I have started with Tim Isted's Beginning Mac Programming and have been working through the examples to build a mac application. I hope to be able to transfer that knowledge into my iPad/iPhone/iTouch app. I have an idea and have started the software development process by creating my requirements for the application and what I want it to do. I am not quite ready to share the details as I might want to try to put it in the store when I am done. So far programming with the XCode IDE makes me feel like I am using the principles that I worked with at Clarkson when taking my course in Visual Basic Programming. It's been a while since I have tried to write more that a simple script to get something accomplished and just being able to follow the directions in the book makes me happy. This is the perfect book to get started in because it doesn't assume you are already a programmer just trying to move into another programming language. The examples are simple and easy to follow and also show the concepts that they are trying to teach. Other books I have tried are concept first and then you might get a good example 40 pages later. I hope to continue to make more progress as time allows. My professional life has been very busy and not allowing for much fun on the personal projects.
