Linux or Windoze?

My wife and I have just made the hard decision to start homeschooling our oldest child beginning in January. We want to incorporate as many learning tools as we can into our curriculum. I have started looking for programs on the computer (as I am the techie here) and there seems to be a lot of software written for Windoze. I am a fellow "penguin feeder" and try to use as much open source, Linux based software as I can. Are there any programs out there to allow me to use Linux as my platform in the homeschool environment? We would be looking for ideas for math, science, music, typing, art and other subjects as we grow together as a family at home. Any suggestions? Drop me an email.
