Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is thanksgiving and I had a great day with my wife and children. The kids got us up early as usual, we had a good family breakfast and started to get the things together for our turkey day. We made two pies, one pecan, one scrumptious pumpkin, had a vegtable platter while the turkey was cooking. Side orders of cornbread and turkey stovetop, mashed potatoes, candied yams, brocolli and biscuts rounded out our meal and our bellies. The meal was very good and we had a good day together as a family. It makes me miss the days of being at home with my mom and stepfather, my brothers and thier wives and children. This is our second Thanksgiving away from home since we moved south for work and although it is not easy being away, we made the best of it. Today is also a day of giving thanks and reflecting on what is important to us. I am very thankful for many things, but here are just a few. I am thankful for my wife and kids, for without their support, my life would be empty. I am thankful for my health and my work, it is hard to survive without either. I am thankful for a wonderful family who helped mold my character and provide me with lessons and boundries that I live my life by. Most of all I am thankful for my freedom, for those men and women who are unfortunately in a place around the globe due to our government's actions trying to protect themselves and our freedom. May we all remember those who have fallen in the name of our country, no matter what the true reason......
